Moments after assuming office, Donald Trump signed several executive orders as part of his goal to "make America great again". As he welcomed the self-proclaimed "golden age of America"rich9, the newly appointed president is set to go on a name-changing spree.

In his inaugural address, Trump mentioned he would "restore American greatness" by renaming Mount Denali and the Gulf of Mexico.

"A short time from now, we are going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America," said Trump adding that the name of President William McKinley will be restored "to Mount McKinley, where it should be and where it belongs."

Shortly after his inaugural address, Trump signed an executive order titled "RESTORING NAMES THAT HONOR AMERICAN GREATNESS" in which he formalised the plan to rename Mount Denali and the Gulf of Mexico.

As stated in the order, the renaming comes in order to "promote the extraordinary heritage of our Nation and ensure future generations of American citizens celebrate the legacy of our American heroes."

While the first two sections of the order call for an overhaul of the system and new appointments, the third section dives into the process of renaming.

Mount Denali To Be Renamed To Mount McKinley

The order calls for reinstating Mount Denali as Mount McKinley, named after William McKinley, the 25th president of the United States. As per reports, McKinley led the US to victory in the Spanish-American war.

In 1917,bl777 official North America’s highest peak was named after McKinley. However, under President Obama, the peak was renamed to Mount Denali in 2015.

The name of this peak has been a controversy for decades. As per the National Park Service, as many Alaskans called for the park and peak to be renamed Mount Denali - which would ensure that the "true old Indian name is preserved".

However, after Trump's return, the name Mount McKinley will be restored. As per the orders, the name should be reinstated within 30 days of the order.

Only the name of the peak will be changed, the park will continue to be called and referred to as the Denali National Park and Preserve.

Gulf Of America

The order added that the Gulf Of Mexico will be renamed to the Gulf of America as the area has remained an "indelible part of the US".

The order adds that the gulf remains a crucial part of American trade and the country's national economy and hence should reflect the same in its name.

"The Gulf will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping America’s future and the global economy, and in recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation’s economy and its people, I am directing that it officially be renamed the Gulf of America," the order reads. This name change should also be done within 30 days of the executive order.

Amid his name-changing spree, Trump also made mentions of his desire to purchase the Panama Canal.

Speaking at the Capitol Rotunda, Trump claimed that the US has spent "more money than ever spent on a project before and lost 38,000 lives in the building of the Canal."

The president also claimed that the Canalrich9, which has been given to Panama, is now being controlled by China and the US will "take it back."
